An actor in a film usually plays double roles and it is quite rare to see an actor playing multiple roles in the same film. You hardly have come across an actor playing three roles in a film. However, there was one Tollywood star who used to play triple roles in his movies and he repeated the same in many movies.
The record holder in the Telugu film industry is Ghattamaneni Krishna, popularly known as Superstar Krishna. He is also an actor, director, studio owner and producer. Krishna’s career in the film industry spans almost 5 decades and has acted in around 350 films.
He is the only actor who has acted in 17 films in a year and this is a rare record in Tollywood. During his cinematic career, he has also done triple roles in the same film. He repeated these roles not for a single film but in more than 3 films.
In his debut film, Kumararaja, he acted in three roles for the first time. It was a remake of Kannada film Shankar Guru. In the Telugu version of the film directed by P Sambasivarao, Krishna played three roles as a father and his two sons. The film was a super hit. After this film, Krishna was noticed by the Telugu industry for his talent.
Krishna’s second film in which she played three roles was Doctor Cine Actor directed by Vijaya Nirmala. In the film, he played the roles of a doctor, a son and a nephew.
Superstar Krishna in the film, Pagapattina Singham repeated the same trend again. The film was directed by P Chandrasekhar Reddy. He again played three roles as a goon, a police officer and a lawyer.
He also continued to play several roles in his other films such as Siripuram Monagadu, Bangaru Kapuram, Daivamagan and Bobbili Dora.
