To save the country from the epidemic, Krishna prayed to Chamundeshwari. Mysuru News – Times of India

Mysuru: Former Chief Minister SM Krishna on Thursday appealed to Goddess Sri Chamundeshwari atop the Chamundi hills in Mysore to save the country from the scourge of COVID-19.
Krishna, who flagged off the 411th Mysore Dussehra celebrations at the Pahari temple, said, “Shri Chamundeshwari is our refuge and shield in this fight against COVID-19, and she will come to our aid.”
Amidst the gloom over the celebrations caused by the pandemic, Krishna’s prayers have instilled hope among the gathering and the general public. There is a feeling among people that the worst has passed.
Krishna recalls his long association with Mysore, which dates back to his days as a schoolboy. “I was 10 years old when I came to Mysore, and since then I have always witnessed Dussehra celebrations. Today, I got the opportunity to flag off the event, and I especially express my gratitude to Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai,” They said.
Emphasizing on the contribution of the Wadiyars in the development of the old Mysore region, Krishna said, “Those involved in the freedom struggle opposed the idea of monarchy, but the contribution of the Wadiyars cannot be ignored from the pages of history. Only it can be deleted. If we forget history, our future will not be bright. The erstwhile Mysuru royal family preserved the culture and tradition of the land, and it was the Wadiyar who built the Krishnaraja Sagar (KRS) dam. “
The former CM pointed to the illustrious history of the Nada Habba ceremony, which dates back 800 years, with its legacy extending to the Vijayanagara kings. Krishna praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi, whom he credited for leading India on the right track. “I have never seen anyone working tirelessly for the nation,” Krishna said, while appealing to CM Basavaraj Bommai to turn Mysore into a tourist hub.
“Nada Habba celebrations attract visitors from all over the world, and the government should tap its potential by offering a package that includes visits to various historical sites including Aihole, Pattadakal, Belur, et al. The model should be emulated. Singapore is getting most of its revenue from tourism,” Krishna said.
Defending the government’s decision to flag off Krishna at Dussehra celebrations, Bommai highlighted the former CM’s several contributions to the state, including turning Bengaluru into a technology hub, besides launching the ‘Yashaswini’ scheme.
Bommai assured Krishna to take his suggestion to enhance the tourism potential of Mysore and develop a circuit for international visitors around the heritage city. “We will have a separate budget for tourism and promotional activities to attract visitors,” he said.
However, not all were happy with all the eyes of Krishna at the event, with most of the dignitaries praising the former CM. There were also those who grumbled about the destruction of the legacy of Mysore Dussehra at the event.
