“Anushka is the totally obvious choice as the story is spread over 12 years, so it needs someone (elder). It is a big budget film and you need a big actor to set it up and justify the budget. From acting to star value, there is no doubt about Anushka.
When asked about the criticism Anushka received when the first look of Chakda Express was released, some social media users praised the actor’s look while others said that she did not look like Jhulan Goswami and had a good Bengali accent. No, Karnesh said that he welcomes all responses, both good and bad.
“You accept it because we felt good about the good responses too. It is art and it is open to debate and discussion. As long as it doesn’t become violent and frivolous (people), we accept it. And because of that, we work harder on the things that you will see in the film. It’s all positive. That’s how you look at it,” he said.
The producer said that Anushka, who recently announced that she would be stepping away from the production house to devote more time to acting, “has been working hard and training to become a fast bowler”.

“Today, women’s cricket is in a much better place. (But) it’s important to keep telling these stories to remind people that these women have fought and backed their game. It is happening, but we need to put in more numbers.”
The shooting of ‘Chakda Express’ will begin from June and the team is hoping to release it on Netflix early next year. “Kaala”, which brings back the successful “Bulbul” duo of director Anvita Dutt and Tripti Dimri, also marks the debut of late star Irrfan Khan’s son Babil.
“Babil is a very talented actor, he is raw and unusual. It is obvious for people to compare him (with his father), but let him express himself, he is an amazing talent. ‘Kaala’ is a mother- The story of Beti which is set in the early 90s in a musical Bollywood setting,” he shared.
Sharma and his partner Amrish Chandra’s streaming platform Clean Slate Studios has been announced as the new Principal Partner for Yorkshire County Cricket Club.
