TMC roller-coast wins formerly BJP-held Dinhata, retains Kharda

The TMC on Tuesday won the Dinhata assembly seat, which was won by its Minister of State for Home Nishith Parmanik by a record margin of 1,64,089 votes in the assembly bypolls held last Saturday.

The ruling party also retained Kharda assembly constituency by winning the seat by an impressive margin of 93,832 votes. In Cooch Behar’s Dinhata assembly seat, TMC’s Udayan Guha got 1,14,086 votes, while nearest rival BJP’s Palash Rana got only 20,254 votes.

The bypoll to the Dinhata assembly constituency was necessitated after Union Minister Nisith Pramanik, who won the seat by a margin of just 57 votes, to retain his Cooch Behar Lok Sabha seat.

In Khardah assembly constituency, state minister Sovandev Chattopadhyay defeated his nearest rival Joy Saha of BJP by a margin of 93,832 votes. Chattopadhyay got 1,14,086 votes, while Saha got 20,254 votes.
