TMC ‘promoting injustice, violence against public’: BJP’s Bhawanipur candidate hits out at Mamata

Kolkata: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Priyanka Tibrewal, who will face West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in the Bhawanipur seat bypoll, on Saturday alleged that the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) has perpetrated injustice and violence against the people.

Tibrewal, who offered prayers at the Kalighat temple here, said she would start her campaign for the bypolls from Sunday.

“I have come here to pray to Maa Kali to protect the people against the injustice done. My fight is against the party in power which has promoted injustice and violence against the public,” she said, reported ANI.

Meanwhile, Hindustani Awam Morcha-Secular (HAM-S) leader Satdaru Roy referred to Banerjee as a “former chief minister” and said she would face a “record defeat” in Bhabnipur.

Everyone knows that the defeat of the ‘former chief minister’ (Mamata Banerjee) from Nandigram has already begun. Take my point – even if it is a margin of one vote, she will face a record defeat in Bhabnipur,” she said, reported ANI.

The Chief Minister of West Bengal has to win this by-election to retain her post.

TMC’s Sovandeb Chattopadhyay stepped down as the MLA of Bhabnipur, giving his party supremo a chance to become a member of the state assembly by contesting a by-election.

Banerjee is to become a member of the state legislature by November 5.
