TMC leader Abhishek Banerjee launched a scathing attack on BJP’s Suvendu Adhikari in Haldia, also criticized the judiciary

Trinamool Congress leader Abhishek Banerjee on Saturday launched a scathing attack on Leader of Opposition and BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari and claimed that leaders who left the TMC for the BJP were returning to the party.

Addressing a trade union meeting of the Trinamool Congress in West Bengal’s East Medinipur’s industrial port town of Haldia, Banerjee, without naming the officer, accused him of isolating the people of the area. This was Banerjee’s first visit to East Medinipur, considered a stronghold of Suvendu Adhikari, after the West Bengal elections last year.

“A man erected a wall between the party and Purvi Medinipur. There is no wall today. Today we have a direct relationship. He (officers) wanted to save himself from ED and CBI.

Adhikari had left the Trinamool Congress in December 2020 along with several Trinamool Congress leaders and joined the BJP.

“The fact that BJP MPs are joining TMC is a response to harassment by CBI, ED,” he said.

The Trinamool Congress leader also expressed disappointment over the BJP. “I am ashamed to say that there are some people in the judiciary who are giving every case to the CBI. They are putting a stop to murder cases.

In the last one month more than 10 cases have been handed over to CBI but this is the first time that TMC has come out so strongly against the judiciary.

The TMC leader also gave guidelines for the trade union. Addressing a major concern that arose during the officer’s tenure in the TMC, Banerjee said party workers cannot be contractors or vice versa. He also warned the contractors for non-payment of wages to workers and wages for overtime. Third, Banerjee said that priority should be given in employment to the local people in Haldia, who will soon vote in the civic polls.
