TMC Election Commission: Demand for early by-elections in the state! Trinamool Congress will be at the door of Election Commission today

#Kolkata: Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress is approaching the Election Commission (TMC) in Delhi at 4.30 pm today. Trinamool Congress (Trinamool Congress) is appearing in the Election Commission office today and is demanding speedy elections for seven assembly seats in the state, which include Bhabnipur and Khardha. The Trinamool parliamentary delegation will approach the Election Commission and demand that elections be held within seven days. There are 8 Trinamool MPs in this delegation. Sudip Bandopadhyay, Saugata Roy, Kalyan Bandopadhyay, Kakali Ghosh Dastidar, Sukhendu Shekhar Roy and Derek O’Brien.

At present, there are five by-elections and two by-elections in the state. In other words, the Election Commission has to complete the polling process in seven centres. The Election Commission has already been informed by the State Government that the State Administration is ready for the by-elections. Because the situation in the state is not under control at the moment, the chief minister himself wants the Election Commission to hold the bypolls at the earliest, though not publicly, with grassroots insiders saying the postponement is being unnecessarily complicated. That’s why the ruling party of the state is going directly to the commission to conduct by-elections this time.

Of the centers where bypolls are pending, Bhabnipur center is also one of the six. Mamata Banerjee said she will contest from that centre. The chief minister would have to be elected as an MLA within six months of taking oath as he had lost. Nandigram. Besides, bypolls are pending in Khardha, Dinhata, Shantipur and Gosaba constituencies. Voting did not take place at Samsherganj and Jangipur centers of Murshidabad due to the death of candidates, the result was that 6 votes were cast in those two centres.

Though the Trinamool wants a quick by-election, the BJP wants to leave the matter to the Election Commission, however, since the bypolls, the BJP has been vocal in its demand for a state plebiscite, BJP leader Shamik Bhattacharya said, “If the commission feels that By-elections are possible in the state in seven days of preparation, so be it. But in the current situation in the state, we do not think that there is a conducive environment for holding by-polls. Because our workers are homeless everywhere from Koch Behar to Kakdweep, BJP workers are not being given ration and vaccination, as a result by-elections should be held as soon as the law and order situation improves. Along with this, there is a demand of the BJP leadership that elections should be held in the remaining municipalities of the state first.

However, Trinamool MP Sukhendu Shekhar Roy said, “The situation is much better now. As per constitutional rules, the by-elections should be held within six months, as the corona infection rate is so low and the state government is taking all necessary measures, that is to hold elections.” Ideal time,” he said in response to the BJP’s demand. Earlier, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had said that pre-polls in the state will be held after the Election Commission holds the bypolls.
