Salman Khan’s Tiger 3 is one of the most awaited films of the year.

Salman Khan’s Tiger 3 will be the first Hindi movie in more than a decade to release on the festival of Diwali.

Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif’s Tiger 3 is all set to hit theatres on Diwali, November 12. It will be the first Hindi movie in more than a decade to release on the festival of Diwali since the film business takes a dip in evening shows. However, in a recent interview, YRF VP of Distribution, Rohan Malhotra explained why they chose, what is otherwise considered as the ‘weakest day’, for the release of the Salman Khan starrer.

“I always believe that it is absolutely fine to do the conventional and there is no need to reinvent if there is no need for it. In this case, however, what came to our mind was that it is important for us not to look at the opening day numbers but to focus on what is eventually going to benefit, and in the case of ‘Tiger 3’, we definitely felt that going on Laxmi Puja day, which is considered the weakest day to release a film, would be a better fit for our film,” he told India Today.

Rohan further cited Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan, which was released in January this year and added, “This came to us for the simple reason that at the start of the year, we had a film like ‘Pathaan’. Had we followed the conventional way, we would have released the film on Republic Day, where we were definitely assured a certain number. But at YRF, we focused on the lifetime business of the film and we came a day earlier. It worked like a dream. We got insane numbers. It came from a simple belief that we had made a good film with a superstar, Shah Rukh Khan and Adi, and all of us at YRF believed in his stardom.”

He shared the makers are confident that Salman Khan will be able to pull the audience to the theatres with his charisma and concluded by saying that the film is ‘superb’.

Tiger 3 marks the third film in Yash Raj Films’ OG spy franchise. It is directed by Maneesh Sharma. While fans are eager to see Tiger and Zoya (played by Katrina Kaif) reunite on the big screen, many are also looking forward to seeing Pathaan’s cameo in the film. Tiger 3’s shows will start from 7 am across the country on November 12.
