Thalapathy Vijay’s Varisu and Ajith Kumar’s Thunivu are all set to clash at the box office on January 11. After 8 years, films of these stars will compete in theatres. Both the teams are working hard to promote their respective films. Thunivu director H Vinoth recently made a controversial comment while promoting his upcoming film at an event. He said fans don’t need to devote so much time to cinema.
H Vinoth said in an interview to a private channel, ‘There is no need to give so much time to cinema. If the film is going to be released on Pongal then reservation will be available three days in advance. You can watch the trailer and poster of a movie and tell four people if you like it. If any other movie is good then watch that too if you have money. You have to devote so much time to that film. No one can spend your time better than you.
The filmmaker also spoke about the promotions. “We spend so much time (on promotion). This causes buildup,” adding, “It all boils down to how much I’ve done for you.” But what can a hero and a production team do? We try so hard!”
His comment on the time spent by the audience in the cinema sparked a heated debate in the film industry, mostly among Ajith’s fans. People started questioning how he could say such things in an interview during the release of Ajith’s film, let alone a Vijay film. Some users supported H Vinoth’s statement.
