Kanpur: A day after the Kanpur Dehat Police on Tuesday reunited a 20-year-old hearing and speech-impaired woman in Bihar with her parents, a day after she was found roaming around in the district’s Rura area.
According to the police, on Monday evening, villagers saw the woman walking around Baletha village in Rura area carrying a bag and informed the police.
The Rura police took the woman into custody and tried to trace her whereabouts. However, since the girl could not speak or hear, she could not communicate with the police.
When the police were planning to shift the woman to the shelter home, SI Kamalkant searched her bag for some clues about the identity of the woman. Later, the SI managed to trace the woman’s family members in Bihar with the help of her thumb impression.
“When we put his thumb impression on the machine, it came to know that he was issued Aadhaar card in Birhi area at Dulhin Bazar ward number 3 of Patna,” the SI said.
“We then contacted the Dulhain police, which managed to trace his family. He said the woman has been identified as Rukhsana, daughter of local Shamshuddin, who went missing a few days ago. However, the family is happy with the development. They would have left for Kanpur Dehat on Tuesday to take Rukhsana back to her native place,” the SI further said.
