Throwback: Relive Anil Kumble’s 10/74 in the historic Delhi Test vs Pakistan

the former India Test captain Anil Kumble may not be the biggest turner of the ball, but the legendary spinner certainly single-handedly made many matches in his side’s favor. One of these matches was the Feroz Shah Kotla Test against Pakistan in February 1999. Today, Ejaz Patel became the third bowler in Test history to take all ten wickets in an innings. So, let’s take a look at the historic Delhi Test when Kumble became only the second bowler in the history of Test cricket after Jim Laker to take 10 wickets in an innings of a match.

The hosts were on the back foot after losing the first Test by a margin of 12 runs to the neighbors in Chennai. In the second Test, India got off to a pretty good start with 252 runs on the board in the first innings. In reply, the visiting team could only score 172 runs. To make matters worse for Pakistan, Sadagopan Ramesh with his 92 and Sourav Ganguly with an unbeaten 62, gave the opposition a powerful task of chasing 420 runs to win the game.
