Three mega drives in Noida in September, but the number of jabs less than in August Noida News – Times of India

NOIDA: While the vaccination drive in the state has picked up pace, Uttar Pradesh has topped in terms of the highest number of first doses administered in the country in September, with the total number of jabs administered in Gautam Budh Nagar last month, found. Slightly lower than in August.
Despite three mega vaccination campaigns last month – on September 6, 17 and 27, the district gave at least 2,000 fewer doses than in August, when more than 3.98 lakh jabs were recorded. Also, a maximum of 32,435 doses of vaccination a day since August were recorded on September 27.
A section of officials claimed that the authorities “relaxed” after the district reached the 100% mark in administering the first dose of COVID vaccination in the first week of September.
“Since GB Nagar has been ahead of all other districts since the launch of the COVID vaccination campaign and achieved 100% first vaccination dose target, officials are more at ease. The target given by the state for the mega drive is now even lower for GB Nagar, while for some other districts it is still higher,” a senior health official told TOI.
So far 24,99,053 doses of Kovid-19 vaccines have been given in the district, which includes 17,07,527 first dose and 7,91,526 second dose. That is, the district has achieved 107% vaccination for the first dose and 49% for the second.
As per government estimates, the population of the district in 18 years is 15.89 lakhs.
According to the CoWin portal, a total of 3,98,051 COVID-19 vaccine doses were administered in the district between July 31 and September 3, while 3,96,305 doses were administered between September 3 and October 2.
However, officials say there are still many people who have missed out on the vaccination campaign and haven’t even taken the first dose. During a recent fever surveillance campaign, the health department identified about 64,000 people over 45 years who had not yet received the vaccine. Special sessions at GIP and Spectrum malls, officials said, will only cater to this category from Monday.
“We are re-focusing on the first dose (Covid-19 vaccine) for those who have missed out, especially in the above 45 years category. Special CVCs have been formed for this group and they are being informed. We are also asking all those above 18 years of age who have not yet taken the first dose, to get vaccinated at the earliest,” said Dr Neeraj Tyagi, District Immunization Officer.
He said that while government centers have not been depleted and adequate doses are available, fewer people have been coming in the past few weeks. Tyagi said, it is expected that in the next few weeks there will be an increase in the number of people needing a second dose and the vaccination record in the district will be back on track.
