Three boys held for pelting stones at Vande Bharat Express in Bihar’s Kishanganj

Kishanganj: Three minor boys were caught by the police in the incident of stone pelting on the Howrah-New Jalpaiguri Vande Bharat Express train in Bihar’s Kishanganj district on Thursday. According to a statement issued by the Kishanganj police, a case was registered on Thursday morning in connection with the incident which happened two days back. “Information was received from railway officials at around 10.30 am today that a coach of Vande Bharat Express was vandalized by stone pelters at around 12.55 pm on January 3,” police said. It said later a case was registered under the Railways Act and the video footage of the incident was examined.

Police said, “Four boys, all aged 14 years and residents of Nimalgaon under Potia police station area, were identified. Three of them were apprehended and produced before the Juvenile Justice Board. Search is on for the fourth.” continues.”

The semi-high speed electric train running between Howrah and New Jalpaiguri in West Bengal passes through Bihar with a brief stop at Barsoi in Katihar district adjacent to Kishanganj.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday claimed that stones were pelted at the Vande Bharat Express not in her state but in neighboring Bihar.
He said legal action would be taken against media outlets that spread “fake news” that the incident took place in West Bengal, bringing bad name to the state.
