New Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport has received a bomb threat. In view of this, vigil has been increased at the airport. An official said an e-mail threatening to explode was received at IGI Airport from an al-Qaeda leader. The Airport Operation Control Center gave this information on Saturday.

It was written in the e-mail that Karanbir Suri alias Mohammad Jalal and his wife Shaili Shara alias Haseena are coming to India from Singapore on Sunday. They are preparing to bomb the airport in 1-3 days. At the same time, the DIG said that in recent days also a similar threatening message was received with the same names and details, which was described as non-specific by the Bomb Threat Assessment Committee (BTAS).

Security agencies on alert
According to the SOP, the Security Operation Control Center has informed all the agencies concerned and the staff has also been alerted. At present, investigation is going on at all terminals, access control and vehicle checking points of IGI Airport. Along with this, patrolling has also been increased.

In April also there was a threat to blow up the plane.
Earlier on April 18, there was a threat to blow up the plane at the Delhi airport. At that time, a passenger on a flight coming from Bangalore to Delhi had got a slip, on which was written about the bomb in the plane. It was also said that the plane would explode as soon as it reached Delhi airport.

As soon as the plane reached Delhi, it was surrounded by bomb disposal squad. Nothing of the sort was found in the investigation. Airport Police Commissioner Rajiv Ranjan had told that a passenger found a piece of tissue paper in the washroom of the plane, in which it was written that there was a bomb in the Air Asia flight.
