As soon as the Yamuna level rises, people living on the banks of the river will have to be evacuated. There is no danger of water entering residential areas close to the river,” he said.

Bhardwaj said most of the tents have been put up in East district (1,700) to provide shelter to the evacuees, besides 280 in North East Delhi district, 170 in Shahdara, 150 in Central and 384 in South East district . He said that shelters have also been set up in the northern district where food, water and other facilities were provided.
