This year the Miss Universe pageant will be held in Elliot, Israel

NEW YORK – Miss Universe is heading to Israel for her 70th pageant.

The Miss Universe Organization announced Tuesday that the pageant will be held this December in the southern resort town of Elliot.

Steve Harvey will once again return as host.

The three-hour show will be broadcast live on Fox in the United States and in 180 countries and territories around the world. It will end with the crowning of the successor of the current Miss Universe, Andrea Meza of Mexico.

Former software engineer Meja has advocated for women’s rights and is also encouraging people to get the COVID-19 vaccine. Soon after she was named Miss Universe, Meja invited the media to cover her first vaccination shot in New York.

In a statement released by the Miss Universe Organization, Meja said she hopes to have “as many people as possible” get vaccinated so that they can participate in the 70th Miss Universe pageant.
