Sushil Kumar won a huge sum of money that could have made a positive impact on his life.

Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan returned with the latest season of Kaun Banega Crorepati. The 16th season of the show has been making headlines for its interesting episodes. Today, we will talk about one KBC winner, who won a big sum from the show but then tragically lost everything and went bankrupt. His name is Sushil Kumar. He won Rs 5 crore in Kaun Banega Crorepati 5 in 2011. In 2020, Sushil Kumar shared his tragic life story with the world in a Facebook post. He said that as soon as he won Rs 5 crore on KBC 5, he was cheated by many people. He mentioned that he was involved in charity work as well.

In a long Facebook post, Sushil Kumar wrote, “After KBC, I became a philanthropist addicted to ‘secret donations’ and attended around 50,000 events a month. This led to me getting cheated many times, which I only found out later after the donations were received. Due to this, my relationship with my wife slowly deteriorated. She often said that I don’t know how to differentiate between right and wrong people and that I don’t worry about the future. We often argued about this.”

Sushil shared that when he went bankrupt, people stopped inviting him to events and threw him out.

“And now how did I become bankrupt…? You will find the story a little ‘cinematic’. One day, when I was out for a walk, a journalist from an English newspaper called me. While everything was going well, he suddenly asked me something which irritated me, so I randomly told him that all my money had run out and I had two cows and was surviving by selling milk and earning some money from it. And after that, you all must know the impact of that news. Soon after, everyone I surrounded myself with cornered me. I stopped being invited to events and that was when I got time to think about what to do next,” Sushil wrote.

Sharing how he got addicted to alcohol and smoking, Sushil said, “The nature of my business brought me in contact with some boys studying media in Jamia Millia, those studying at IIMC, their seniors and also some others doing research at JNU. I was also introduced to some theatre artists. When these students and artists spoke about a subject, I felt intimidated and realised that I did not know much about other subjects or subjects. Slowly, I became addicted to alcohol and smoking, in addition to other addictions. Whenever I was in Delhi for a week, I would drink and smoke in seven different groups. I found their conversations attractive.”

Sushil Kumar, with the determination to improve, is now back on the road to success. Currently, he works as a teacher; he also focuses on his work as an environmentalist. Sushil Kumar had also focused on films and tried to make a mark in Bollywood, but his efforts were unsuccessful.
