Railway Ticket Refund Rules: Railway plays a very important role in the life of common people of India. We often use trains as a means of transportation. However, at times we change our plans due to which we have to cancel our tickets. Many people are unaware of how much railways charges as cancellation fee. Here are some details about the cancellation policy of Indian Railways.

Rules for Cancellation of RAC and Waiting List Seats:
Now you can cancel your RAC and waiting list ticket 30 minutes before departure if you wish. While Indian Railways charges Rs 60 as cancellation fee for sleeper class, they charge Rs. For cancellation of AC class seat 65. The balance amount after cancellation fee is refunded to you.

Rules for Cancellation of Confirmed Tickets:
To cancel a confirmed ticket, passengers have to keep some things in mind. As per the rules established by the Indian Railways, there is a time limit to be followed if you want to cancel a confirmed ticket. You will have to pay a lower cancellation fee, provided you cancel the ticket within the stipulated time. Also, you will not get a refund if you cancel your ticket four hours before departure.

Cancellation Rules for Confirmed General (2S) Class Seats:
Confirmed general class passengers will have to pay Rs. Tickets can be canceled with 60 as cancellation fee per person and refund up to 48 hours prior to departure.

Cancellation Rules for Confirmed Sleeper Class Seats:
Sleeper class passengers will have to pay Rs. 180 as cancellation fee for a confirmed seat cancellation, which can be done with refund up to four hours before departure only.

Cancellation Rules for Confirmed AC Chair Car Seat:
If a person has made a confirmed reservation in AC Chair Car, First AC and Executive Class and cancels the ticket, then Rs. 240 plus GST as cancellation charges. Notably, GST is not charged for sleeper class and general class cancellations.
