‘Third Wave Is Here’: Number Of Cases Reachs Double Digit, Says Nagpur Minister Nitin Raut

New Delhi: A few days before Ganesh Chaturthi, District Guardian Minister Dr. Nitin Raut has said that the third wave has started. Talking to the media on Monday, he said that some restrictions will be imposed but the final decision will be taken after discussion with the public representatives.

“Today, after a long time, we have doubled the number of positive cases. We have a third wave,” news agency ANI quoted the minister as saying.

“There will be a disaster management meeting soon. It has been decided to impose some restrictions but we will take a final decision in this regard in consultation with people’s representatives,” he said.

According to a report in HT, Raut pointed out that the increased restrictions may include allowing restaurants to remain open till 8 pm instead of 10 pm. The administration may ask shops, other establishments to remain open till 4 pm and to remain completely closed on weekends.

Meanwhile, Mumbai has reported over 28 per cent of the total COVID-19 cases reported in the entire month of August in the first six days of this month, according to data from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation.

Mumbai on Monday reported 379 new coronavirus positive cases and five deaths, taking the number of infections to 7,46,725 and the death toll to 15,998. There are now 3,771 active cases left in the city, a BMC official told PTI.
