Third highest turnout: 87,000 took the job in the mega vaccination campaign in Lucknow. Lucknow News – Times of India

Around 576 vaccination booths were set up for the campaign

LUCKNOW: Over 87,000 people queued up at various centers in Lucknow on Friday to take up jobs against Covid-19.
This number was short of the target of 1.2 lakh doses delivered on the occasion of the prime minister’s birthday, but it was the third highest single-day vaccination since the introduction of mass vaccination in January. About 576 vaccination booths have been set up including 155 special camps.
Chief Medical Officer Dr Manoj Aggarwal said that the turnout was less than expected as rain did not stop even after water logging in many areas after Thursday’s rain.
“The state government had allotted 1.5 lakh doses to Lucknow for Friday, but the campaign has been extended till Saturday as the target was not met,” he said.
A TOI reality check at various centers saw long queues since morning. The Covid protocol went for a toss at many places with people standing close to each other without masks. At some places technical problems also surfaced.
Due to heavy turnout in some centres, vaccination continued till late in the evening. The campaign was largely smooth with no side-effects due to the vaccine being reported till the final report.
The center of Gurdwara Naka Hindola recorded 1,046 vaccinations, the highest in the district.
Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Choudhary inspected vaccination at SPM Civil Hospital.

Another case of Kovid-19 was registered in the city on Friday. However, no patient recovered in the last 24 hours. The number of patients with active infection status was 24.
