Police suspect that the same gang may have committed the same crime at both Aran and Roopangarh in Ajmer district.

Hours after unidentified thieves looted Rs 30 lakh from an ATM machine in Rajasthan’s Ajmer, a similar incident was reported in the same district where Rs 8 lakh was stolen in a similar fashion.

Police now suspect that the same gang may have carried out the double crime in both Airan and Roopangarh in Ajmer district. The first incident has been told on Monday night and the second on Thursday night.

CCTV footage of the incident, which took place on Thursday, shows three masked men tying a chain to the ATM machine and completely uprooting it within minutes. Eight lakh rupees were stolen from the machine.

Similarly, on Monday, unknown miscreants attacked the State Bank of India ATM with more than Rs 30 lakh cash installed at Bijli Ghar intersection.

“ATM machines were looted in Arain and Roopangarh. Rupee. 8 lakh and Rs. 30 lakh has been stolen in both the incidents respectively. The modus operandi of robbery is similar in both the cases and hence it could be the same gang,” Vaibhav Sharma, Additional SP, Rural told ANI.

He also told PTI that efforts are being made to identify the miscreants with the help of CCTV cameras.

“They probably uprooted the machine with the help of the vehicle they had brought with them in which they had taken the ATM with them,” Sharma said.

Both the incidents took place late at night and so far no one has been arrested in both the cases. Police said they are probing the matter further.
