‘They have psychological pressure to face us’: Shoaib Akhtar wants to see Pakistan play New Zealand in final

Speaking in his latest YouTube video, Shoaib was of the opinion that there is psychological pressure on New Zealand to face Babar Azam & Co. He also recalled the Black Caps canceling the tour of Pakistan in September. However, the former cricketer mentioned that the Men in Green need to beat the Aussies first.

“Now, I want New Zealand to face Pakistan in the final because they have psychological pressure to face us. But for the first time ever, Pakistan has to play the best cricket ever against Australia tomorrow. I can see that Pak-New Zealand in the final. But Pakistan will have to cross the river of fire to become a finalist,” Akhtar said.

The former speedster admitted that the captaincy in the first semi-final game was not right from both the sides. Akhtar underlined that, while Morgan did not use his bowling options properly, Williamson disappointed as New Zealand’s chase of 167 runs.

“When it comes to Morgan’s strategy, I didn’t like it at all. When Livingston got the wicket in the 16th over, Morgan should have given the ball to Rashid in the next over itself.

“From both the sides, the captaincy was not up to the mark. The captain did not bat much from either side. Williamson is an anchor, he is not there for helpers. He should have played longer. But this was his lesson. He will always be a threat as long as he is in the middle,” concluded Akhtar.
