These WhatsApp users may get a new missing messages feature – Times of India

WhatsApp Is reportedly working on a feature that will allow you to keep certain missing messages in chat for a longer period. According to a report by WABetaInfo, the Facebook-owned platform has rolled out a new beta update for Android users. The update contains references to the new Vanishing Messages feature. Reportedly, if you have enabled disappearing of messages, this feature will allow you to keep certain messages in the chat even after the message has expired.
Currently, you have to temporarily disable the disappearing messages feature and forward the message to the same chat to have a disappearing message in the chat. This process can be quite tedious and it seems that the company is aiming to simplify it with the new feature.
As per the screenshot shared in the report, this feature will help you to keep the disappearing message in the chat. Users will be able to see a pop-up that reads, “Messages will no longer disappear from this chat. Anyone can save it.” You can also unkeep the message if you no longer need it. When you select the option, you’ll see an option that reads “This message may have disappeared. If it is not kept, it will be lost for all.”
Since this feature is still in the early stages of development, it is unknown when the company will roll it out to the users. Apart from this, WhatsApp is also planning to impose a new limit while forwarding messages. After installing the previous update that was rolled out this week, some beta testers are no longer able to forward a WhatsApp message to more than one group chat at a time. With the new limit, to share a message to multiple WhatsApp groups, you have to select the message and forward it multiple times
