‘There was fog’, IndiGo refutes DGCA’s claim of smoke on Raipur-Indore flight

IndiGo on Thursday said there was no smoke in the cabin of a Raipur-Indore flight on Tuesday, but “smog was created” by the heating, ventilation and air-conditioning systems due to humidity. Officials of aviation regulator DGCA said that the cabin crew of the IndiGo Raipur-Indore flight noticed smoke in the aircraft after landing at its destination on Tuesday.

“There have been false reports of ‘smoke in the cabin’ of Flight 6E-905 from Raipur to Indore. There was no smoke in the cabin, but a mist created by the HVAC system due to moisture,” it said.

Further, the airline said that there has been no incident of in-flight engine shutdown on IndiGo flights in the recent past.

“We strongly refute these reports, which have been falsely disseminated by vested interest entities to mislead customers and authorities,” the statement said.
