Motion of thanks to the President is to be held in Rajya Sabha today. After this there will be an 11-hour debate on the budget. A day earlier, the Business Advisory Committee of the Rajya Sabha headed by M Venkaiah Naidu gave time for the debate on the President’s Address and the Motion of Thanks on the Union Budget 2022-23. Rahul Gandhi will be the first to speak in the debate in the Lok Sabha, while Harish Dwivedi will start the debate on behalf of BJP.

Opposition can raise Pegagus issue
There is a possibility of a debate on the Pegasus issue during the budget session. Earlier, the Center had said that there was no need for a separate discussion on the Pegasus issue as the matter was sub-judice. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi said after the all-party meeting that if the opposition wants, they can raise any issue while speaking on the Motion of Thanks on the President’s address.

Budget session will continue till February 11
The discussion on the Motion of Thanks on the President’s Address is starting from February 2. The budget session, which began on January 31, will continue till February 11. After the completion of the first phase, there will be a one-month holiday from February 12 to March 13. The second phase will start from March 14 and will run till April 8. Demands for grants of ministries will be discussed in this session. Along with this, the ministers of the concerned departments will reply. The Demands for Grants and Finance Bill will be passed after the discussion on the budget and the reply of Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.

During this, PM Modi will answer on 7 or 8 February while Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will answer on 11 February.

Will be working in shift
In view of the current situation of Corona cases in the country, the functioning of Parliament will also be in shift from February 2. The action of Rajya Sabha will take place in the morning and that of Lok Sabha in the evening. The Rajya Sabha will start from 10 am and will run for 5 hours i.e. 3 pm. At the same time, the timing of Lok Sabha has been kept from 4 pm to 9 pm.
