“Their dreams and dedication will always be remembered,” Rau’s Academy, the civil services coaching centre on Wednesday released a statement in response to the tragic incident where three students lost their lives by drowning on the premises.
“We are deeply saddened by the loss of our students Ms Tanya Soni, Mr Nivin Dalwin, and Ms Shreya Yadav in the tragic event of 27th July. Our heartfelt condolences go out to their families,” the statement read.

“Rau’s IAS Study Circle is fully cooperating with the ongoing investigation. We urge everyone to respect the privacy of the families during this difficult time. Their dreams and dedication will always be remembered,” it added.
This marks the first official statement from the study centre following the incident which occurred when water from a flooded drain entered the basement of the coaching centre where a library was situated.
The drowning of three students in the basement of Rau’s IAS Study Circle in Delhi’s Rajindernagar shocked everyone. Two girls, Shreya Yadav and Tania Soni, are among those who died in the incident.
Shreya Yadav was from Ambedkarnagar in Uttar Pradesh, and Tania Soni was from Aurangabad in Bihar. The third student has been identified as Navin Delvin.
The incident resonated in Parliament on Monday with members demanding that responsibility be fixed so that such a tragedy does not recur.
MHA Forms Panel To Probe Coaching Centre Deaths
The Union Home Ministry on Monday constituted a high-level committee, headed by an Additional Secretary, to probe the death of three IAS aspirants at a coaching centre here due to flooding of the building’s basement.
The committee will inquire into the reasons, fix responsibility, suggest measures and recommend policy changes, a home ministry spokesperson said.
Apart from the Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, the committee will have a Principal Secretary (Home) of the Delhi government, a Special CP of Delhi Police and a Fire Advisor as members and a Joint Secretary in the home ministry as the Convener.
The committee will submit its report in 30 days, the spokesperson said.
