On Saturday, a youth in Tamil Nadu deposited one rupee coins in three years to buy his dream bike from a Bajaj dealership in Salem, which took ten hours to count.

V Bubathi, a resident of Gandhi Maidan in Ammapet, fulfilled his imagination last week when a Bajaj dealership traded his one rupee coins for the Dominar 400 motorcycle (totaling Rs 2.6 lakh). Bubathi and his friends brought the coins to the showroom on Saturday afternoon in a minivan full of sacks. Bupati is a BCA graduate who works as a computer operator.

Bubati said in an interview, “I decided to save the money I earned from my YouTube channel. When I inquired about the on-road price of the bike, I came to know that it was priced at Rs 2.6 lakh, and this I had this money once.

When Bubathi approached the Bajaj showroom, the employees were a little reluctant to accept payment in Re 1 coins, as he had been converting his savings into smaller coins for the past three years. Bubathi, his four friends and five showroom workers count the coins and take 10 hours to count the full amount.

The Bajaj Dominar 400 is the most powerful and expensive bike in Bajaj’s line-up and is powered by a 373cc single cylinder, liquid cooled engine that develops 40 PS of power and 35 Nm of torque and is mated to a 6-speed gearbox. The Bajaj Dominar price in India is Rs 2.17 Lakh (ex-showroom).
