Vadodara: A day after a video of an alleged illegal abortion went viral MahisagarPolice have identified a woman seen in the video. On Sunday, the police said that one of them is a nurse named Kali Sangada who lives in Santrampur town.
“After enquiry, we also came to know that the house where the video was shot belongs to Sangada. She has not come to her house for the last 15 days. At the same time, Sangada has gone missing after the video went viral. We have formed teams to track him down,” said P Bhoi, police inspector, Santrampur. Police said Sangada has been working in a private hospital in Santrampur for the past two decades.
“We sent a team to her native place in Rajasthan, but she was not there either. We will find out soon. The other three women in the video will be identified after we nab Sangda,” said Bhoi.
Bhoi said that the video is more than one and a half years old. “When we visited the house seen in the video, there was some additional construction in the backyard which suggests that it is an old video. We have recovered some abortion pills from the house,” said Bhoi.
After the video went viral on Saturday, the Santrampur administration swung into action and started searching for the women seen in the video. The video, shot in the backyard of an old house, shows four women extracting parts of a fetus from an unidentified woman. District health officials said that such abortion is illegal.
Police complaint has been registered under medical termination of pregnancy act On Saturday night, a member of the District Women’s Commission also reached the spot and demanded strict action against the culprits.
