The rains that started in the early hours of Sunday in Bathinda, the city of Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal, brought relief along with disaster. Several areas leading to the city were completely submerged and people were seen struggling hard to pass through. The city received continuous rain from 4 am to 11 am. During this 81 mm of rain fell. Due to this, most areas of the city were submerged in water. 4 feet on Power House Road and 4 feet on Sirki Bazar, Parasram Nagar and Bhatti Road.

The city’s civil line area and Sirki Bazar have been flooded with water up to 4 feet. Those who were passing by risking their lives, water was reaching their shoulders. Women were also included in this. Due to the festival of Rakhi, people came out in large numbers on Sunday, but the water accumulated due to rain became trouble for them.

It started raining in the city around 5 am and still it is raining intermittently. Around 11 o’clock the rain stopped a bit. But due to the jam, the situation has become very bad in almost the entire city including Sikri Bazar, Civil Line area Pratap Nagar of the city.

In the civil line area and Sirki Bazar, water has been filled up to three to four feet. People were seen trapped in many places, while at some places they kept passing through the water putting their lives at risk. Even though the rains have brought relief from the cool weather in the district, but the problems have increased. Trees have also fallen at some places and movement has been affected due to this.
