New Delhi: With the rise in the number of COVID cases in the country, the Punjab government has imposed night curfew in municipal areas with few exceptions.

As per the guidelines issued by the state government, bars, cinema halls, malls, restaurants, spas will operate at 50% capacity, provided there is complete immunization of employees. Gyms will remain closed in Punjab.

The guidelines also state that only fully vaccinated employees will attend government and private offices in the state and the rest will work from home.

  • The movement of persons for all non-essential activities within the municipal limits of all cities and towns of Punjab shall be restricted between 10.00 pm to 5.00 am.
  • Essential activities including operation of multiple shifts in industry, offices, etc. (both government and private), movement of persons and goods on national and state highways, and unloading of cargo after disembarkation from buses, trains and carriage of persons to their destinations , and airplanes will be allowed.
  • All educational institutions including schools, colleges, universities, coaching institutes etc. will remain closed.
  • All sports complexes, stadiums, swimming pools, gyms will remain closed.
  • Sports complexes used for participation in national/international sporting events as well as for training of players for national/international sporting events shall remain open. No spectators or spectators should be allowed.
  • AC buses will run at 50 percent capacity.
  • Only fully immunized employees will be allowed to attend government and private offices, workplaces, factories, industries etc.

In the last few days, the number of infected people is increasing in Punjab. According to the state medical bulletin, one more person died of coronavirus in Punjab on Monday as 419 fresh cases were reported, taking the number of infections in the state to 6,05,922.

So far 16,651 people have died due to infection in the state. The death toll also includes two deaths that were not previously reported.

The number of active cases rose to 1,741 from 1,369 a day earlier.

Of the fresh cases, 143 were reported in Patiala, 58 in Pathankot, 57 in Ludhiana and 30 in Mohali.

Thirty-eight more people have recovered from the infection, the bulletin said, taking the number to 5,87,530.
