New Delhi: Officials said on Friday that the Republic Day parade will be held next year at the refurbished Rajpath as the redevelopment work of Central Vista Avenue from Rashtrapati Bhavan to India Gate is expected to be completed by November.

Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, who reviewed the status of the ongoing construction works, said citizens would get an opportunity they would be proud of.

A ministry official said the Rajpath redevelopment project involves massive stone work, construction of underpasses, underground facilities block and horticulture work and adequate space for parking.

“Twelve bridges are being built over artificial ponds. People visiting Rajpath will have an amazing experience. The redevelopment of Central Vista Avenue will be completed by November and next year’s Republic Day parade will take place on the newly developed Rajpath.” the officer said.

Infrastructure firm Shapoorji Pallonji & Co Pvt Ltd is executing the project as part of the government’s ambitious Central Vista redevelopment project.

The redevelopment project of Central Vista – the Power Corridor of the Nation – envisages a new triangular Parliament building, a common Central Secretariat, revamp of the three kilometer long Rajpath from Rashtrapati Bhavan to India Gate, new Prime Minister’s residence and the PMO. , and the new Vice President Enclave.
