The mob fired 60 rounds of bullets… had conspired to kill the police: FIR on Ranchi Violence – Henry Club

These are some of the facts derived from five FIRs registered by the state at two police stations in Ranchi on the June 10 violence.

Two persons – Mudassir, 15, and Sahil, 21 – died of gunshots that were allegedly found in police firing. Eight others, including a policeman, were shot and are undergoing treatment at Ranchi’s Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences.

Main FIR This is based on a complaint by circle officer Amit Kumar Bhagat, who said he was on patrol on June 10 and noticed that the protest had started after 2 pm. The FIR quoted Bhagat as saying that the rally was taken out without permission and the crowd soon turned aggressive. It said that the police tried to stop them but a crowd of 8,000 to 10,000 people threw stones and gathered near the Hanuman temple. They “targeted and attacked the police” [them] With stones”, the FIR mentions.

A case has been registered at Daily Market police station under various sections of the IPC including rioting, attempt to murder, attack on public servant, and act with intent to hurt religious sentiments; Arms Act; and the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act.

The FIR states: “Upadraviyon dwara poorva niyojit yojna anusar main road sthit Hanuman Mandir ko bhi lakshit kar dharmik danga failane ke uddesya se lagataar patharbazi ki jaane lagi, (The miscreants wanted to target the Hanuman temple for instigating religious riots and pelting stones in a planned manner). According to the FIR, the mob broke the police blockade in an “attempt to climb the temple”.

“Is kram mein ugra bheed evam upadrawiyon dwara police bal par jaan maarne ki niyat se lagataar kai round firing bhi ki gayi…. Unmaadi bheed mein shamil kai navyuvakdyuti mein karyarat police karmiyon ko pakad kar unke sarkari hathiyaar chheennne ka prayas bhi kiya gaya (In the process, the mob and miscreants opened fire on the police in an attempt to kill them… Many in the mob also tried to snatch the weapons of the policemen), the FIR said.

The FIR states that minor force was used, but that did not stop the mob. It said that efforts by the Deputy Commissioner and Senior Superintendent of Police also to talk to the protesters and pacify them did not yield any results. “…they started firing on the police,” the FIR said.

Because of this, “controlled aerial firing and use of force” was ordered, which was somewhat successful in dispersing the crowd, the FIR said. “Five Rounds of Tear Gas” [shells were fired] And several rounds of aerial firing were done and then lathi-charged… after which the crowd was controlled…. Another FIR was registered at the Daily Market police station based on a complaint by ASI Sumit Bhagat on illegal protests following the violence. Third FIR registered against four people in the same police station for doing kirtan even after CrPC section 144 called in the area.

The fourth FIR is based on a complaint by ASI Madan Mishra of Lower Bazar police station that the mob raised slogans and scuffled with the police personnel. 17 accused have been named in this, and it is similar to the FIR at the Daily Market police station.

The fifth FIR is based on a complaint by Lower Bazar station sub-inspector Jitendra Singh Bisht – it said that apart from violence with police, the mob also targeted “passengers”.

The FIR was registered on the complaint of two residents of the minority community, who were assaulted on the night of June 10 when they went to get pizza.
