Adah Sharma’s The Kerala Story is doing exceptionally well at the box office. The film is now inching closer to entering the Rs 200 crore club. Earning over Rs 187 crore at the ticket window, the Sudipto Sen-directed film has created history since its release on May 5, 2023.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to Twitter to share the numbers and wrote, “#TheKeralaStory shows its might [third] Shani… biz jumps again [+38.64%]… should reach double digits today [Sun]Taking it close to ₹ 200 cr… [Week 3] Fri 6.60 cr, Sat 9.15 cr. Total: ₹ 187.47 Cr. #India biz. #box office.
Earlier it was also reported that The Kerala Story has become the top-grossing film of the year so far leaving behind Ranbir Kapoor’s Tu Jhoothi Main Makkar, Salman Khan’s Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan and Ajay Devgn’s Bhola. .
In a recent interview with News18 Showsha, Adah said that she did not expect the film to do so well at the box office. He confessed that he never thought that “millions of people” would see his film.
“As an actor, I don’t know all these statistics. We do all this with the hope that people will see it. I knew it was a subject that people would connect with emotionally if they saw it. The emotion of mother-daughter in the film is very strong. This is what touched my heart when I heard the script. It’s a haunting thing. it’s scary. I thought if the mother-daughter connect (with the audience), it would really work. But I didn’t expect this. I didn’t expect so many millions of people to see it,” she told us.

Earlier, Adah Sharma also gave a befitting reply to those who called The Kerala Story a ‘propaganda’ film on her Twitter account. She called her film ‘Asli’ and urged everyone to google ‘ISIS’ and ‘brides’ to know the truth.
“And some are still calling #TheKeralaStory a propaganda film, saying these incidents do not exist even after seeing testimonials of many Indian victims, My humble request, Google two words ISIS and Brides… May be Aapko heard white girls ka ek khata banna de you think our Indian film is real,” she wrote.
