Anurag Thakur had gone to attend the 75th Cannes Film Festival held in France. Where he came to India and offered flowers to the statue of General Allard, who served in the army of Maharaja Ranjit Singh, and his Indian wife Bannu Pan Dei.

There were officers of Napoleon, came to India and made ‘Fauj-e-Khas’

General Allard was the court officer of the French ruler Napoleon Bonaparte. Later he came to India and started working as a general in the army of Maharaja Ranjit Singh of Punjab. He used his French experience in Punjab. On the lines of Napoleon’s army, he had made ‘Fauj-i-Khas’ for the Maharaja.

While living in Punjab, he was giving his heart to the princess of Chamba.

While living in Punjab and working in the army of Maharaja Ranjit Singh, General Allard started liking the princess of Chamba. Later both of them also got married. After marriage, in 1834, Princess Bannu moved to the French city of Saint Tropez with Pan dei General llard.

Princess of Chamba remained in France even after the death of her husband

General Allard died a few years after the princess left for France. After which the princess lived in the house built by General Allard for about 45 years with the help of his memories. He also died in 1884.

This couple is considered a symbol of love in France

In France, especially the people of St. Tropez, the princess and the general are considered as symbols of love. In 2016, both were sculpted in this French city. Along with this, a statue of Maharaja Ranjit Singh has also been installed here.
