Varanasi: Dr Parag Bajpai (53), a well-known physician of the city, shot himself with a licensed gun in the washroom of his house late on Sunday night. The police gave this information on Monday.
ACP Bhelupur Praveen Kumar Singh said, “Dr Bajpai shot him with a licensed pistol inside the washroom at his house. His family members immediately took him to the hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.”
He said, ‘We are probing the matter after sending the body for postmortem. After preliminary investigation, it is suspected that Dr Bajpai was upset over some family issue.”
Dr. Bajpayee and his wife Dr. Vani Bajpayee, residents of Kaivalyadham Colony of Bhelupur police station, had a hospital. Late on Sunday night, the police received information that Dr Bajpai had shot himself after locking his washroom from inside.
His wife and sons entered the washroom to find out the reason for the firing when they saw him lying in a pool of blood. They immediately took him to a local hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.
