The COVID vaccination for the age group 15-18 is starting from Monday. Know about eligibility, registration

New Delhi: The COVID vaccination campaign for adolescents in the age group of 15-18 in India is set to begin on Monday, with over seven lakh beneficiaries already registered on the CoWIN portal.

The data on the CoWIN dashboard shows the registration of 7,21,521 beneficiaries till 9:20 pm on Sunday, news agency ANI reported.

As informed by the Centre, Covaxin is to be administered to this category of new beneficiaries and additional doses will be sent to the States and Union Territories for the campaign.

Eligibility:

As per the guidelines of the Union Health Ministry for new beneficiaries in the age group of 15-18 years, everyone who is 15 years of age or above will be able to register on Co-Win. In other words, all those whose birth year is 2007 or earlier will be eligible.

How to book an appointment for COVID Vaccination:

  • Beneficiaries of Union Health Ministry can register online through existing account on co-win or can also register by creating a new account through a unique mobile number.
  • Such beneficiaries can also be registered onsite by the verifier/vaccinator in the facility registration mode.
  • Appointment can be booked online or onsite (walk-in).
  • Dr RS Sharma, head of the CoWIN platform, had informed that the option of student ID card has been added for registration. This is an additional class 10 ID card that can be used for registration on the portal as some may not have Aadhaar or other such identity cards, reported ANI.

Important points to know for online registration:

  • All communications and reminders are sent to your registered mobile number. Hence the mobile number used for registration must be active.
  • Do not register with multiple mobile numbers or different photo ID proofs for the same person.
  • Maximum 4 people can be registered with the same mobile number.
  • The system will only display the vaccination slots for the vaccines you are eligible for. slot, Availability is displayed in search (district, pincode or on the map) by District Immunization Officers (for government immunization centres) and private hospitals for their immunization centers based on schedule.
  • To generate the final certificate, the second dose should be determined from the same account (same mobile number) from which the first dose is taken. The CoWIN portal states, “Separate registration for the second dose is not necessary and will lead to two first dose certificates.”
  • For verification at the time of vaccination, please visit the vaccination center with registered mobile phone and required documents, including appointment slip, photo identity card or student ID card used for registration.

The registration for immunization of children falling in the age group started from January 1. On December 25 last year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had announced that India was preparing to introduce COVID-19 vaccination for children aged 15 to 18 years.
