Kareena Kapoor’s whodunnit thriller ‘The Buckingham Murders’ is set to release in two different versions simultaneously on September 13. Audiences will have the option to watch the film in either version on the same day.

Kareena Kapoor’s crime mystery-thriller ‘The Buckingham Murders’ is set to hit theaters tomorrow. To cater to a broader audience, the Hansal Mehta directorial will be released in two versions: the original Hinglish (a blend of Hindi and English) and a Hindi-dubbed version.

In the Hinglish version, Hansal Mehta opted for actors from the same region as the setting, ensuring the authenticity of accents. However, recognizing that this mix might be challenging for all viewers, the filmmakers have decided to also release a fully Hindi version of the film.

To maximize accessibility, the release strategy involves splitting the screens evenly—50% will show the Hinglish version, while the other 50% will screen the Hindi-dubbed version. This approach showcases the filmmakers’ dedication to making the thriller accessible to diverse audiences.

In the film’s gripping trailer, Kareena plays a detective and grieving mother who, after losing her child, embarks on solving the murder of a 10-year-old in Buckinghamshire. The movie also stars Ash Tandon, Ranveer Brar, and Keith Allen. Written by Aseem Arrora, Kashyap Kapoor, and Raghav Raj Kakker, ‘The Buckingham Murders’ is produced by Mahana Films and TBM Films, presented by Balaji Telefilms, with Shobha Kapoor, Ektaa R Kapoor, and Kareena co-producing. The film will release exclusively in cinemas on September 13, 2024.

Following the release of the trailer, comparisons were made between The Buckingham Murders and Kate Winslet’s acclaimed miniseries Mare of Easttown. Some netizens speculated that the film might be too similar to the HBO show, with one user writing, “Mare of Easttown… God please! Plz get something original…” Director Hansal Mehta was quick to address these concerns with a confident reply: “Decide after you watch. Don’t jump to conclusions.” His response suggests that the film will stand on its own, despite the surface similarities.

At the film’s trailer launch, Kareena Kapoor was also asked about the supposed influence of Mare of Easttown on her character. She clarified that the script was brought to her a year before the series was released. “Actors should draw inspiration from other actors,” Kapoor said, adding that she’s a huge Kate Winslet fan. “I watch her work closely, but I always bring my own touch to a character.”

Kareena was last seen in the Netflix mystery-thriller ‘Jaane Jaan’, directed by Sujoy Ghosh, and will next appear in Rohit Shetty’s ‘Singham Returns’, starring Ajay Devgn
