Following the T20 World Cup 2024 in the West Indies and the United States of America, the South Africa middle-order batter, David Miller has cleared the air regarding his retirement and denied many reports that surfaced online claiming that he has called time on his T20I career.

Miller played a crucial role in South Africa’s battle against India in the finale at Barbados where he was the last specialist batter that was in the middle and looked to take the side home to their first World Cup trophy.

But he fell short in the final over as he smashed a full-toss by Hardik Pandya to Suryakumar Yadav who took a brilliant catch off the long-off boundary ropes to end the Proteas’ hopes of winning a World Cup trophy.

The southpaw finished the tournament as 14th highest scorer in the tournament with 169 runs in the nine games he had featured with a strike rate of 169 and an average of 28.16. His best knock came against the Netherlands where he scored an unbeaten 59 followed by 43 runs against England.

This was the closest that South Africa was to an ICC World Cup title with the game against India being their maiden finals appearance across all formats. But despite the heroics of Heinrich Klaasen and Quinton de Kock, Miller was unlucky to not be able to take the side home thanks to a historic catch by Sky, thus ending their unbeaten streak in the tournament and giving India the rare feat of being the only side to go unbeaten in the entire campaign.
