The Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) 2022 opener between Chennai Super Gillies (CSG) and Nellai Royal Kings (NRK) made headlines for an unpleasant incident involving batsman Narine Jagadeesan. The CSG wicketkeeper-batsman was run out by NRK’s Baba Aparajith for going too far back on the non-strikers. The dismissal resulted in a heated argument between the two players and the former was also seen making obscene gestures of middle-finger while walking back into the dugout.
Jagadeesan made a strong start with a bat in his hand, but the sudden dismissal did not go with him. Frustrated with the way he lost his wicket, the batsman made obscene gestures of middle-finger, seemingly walking towards the dugout towards the NRK players.

On Saturday, Jagadeesan apologized for his ‘unforgivable’ antics through a social media post.
“My deepest apologies to all of you for my unforgivable behavior in yesterday’s match. Cricket I’ve always been what I live for – and the sportsmanship that comes with sport is something I deeply respect. This is why it is so hard for me to digest how I reacted,” Jagadeesan wrote on Twitter.

“Passion is always important in any sport – but it’s more important to control it and channelize it the right way. And that’s something I failed to do when I let my anger take over. Which I did There is no excuse for that, I will do better and do better. With regret, Jagadeesan,” he said.
Jagadeesan scored 25 off 15 balls before being dismissed by Aparajith. Nellai Royal Kings posted 184/4 thanks to Sanjay Yadav’s 87 off 47 balls and Laxmisha Suryaprakash’s 62 off 50 balls.
In reply, captain Kaushik Gandhi and Jagadeesan shared a 35-run partnership for the first wicket. The game took an interesting turn when CSG needed five runs off the last ball and S Harish Kumar hit a boundary forcing a Super Over. In the end, the Royal Kings, chasing a target of 10 runs, registered a resounding victory with a ball in hand.
