‘That’s Garbage, Pat’-Emotional Matthew Hayden Lashes Out at Pat Cummins After Justin Langer Leaving

An emotional Matthew Hayden broke into Cricket Australia after his fellow friend Justin Langer, who was Australia’s coach, stepped down. Hayden said no one supported Langer before he verbally attacked Australia captain Pat Cummins. Langer had to step down despite recent successes which include a 4-0 win at the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 and the Ashes.

“It was quite clear that no one supported him,” Hayden said. abc radio on Saturday, as quoted by Fox Sports Australia,

“If you hear the Australian captain speaking that day, there was no mention of any kind of praise or support.

“It would have been extremely harmful.

“How do you think he will be going? There is no support and praise to hear the Aussie captain at Sunrisers. How do you feel?”

He also took a jibe at Cummins after a fair practice of reviewing Langer’s performance. “And now we hear Pat Cummins saying, ‘It’s a high performance environment, we all go through high performance reviews’. I’m sorry Pat but this is garbage…

He also told how Langer stayed in Melbourne despite what was happening around him. “It was a Blok (Langer) who won the Ashes, basically staying back in Melbourne the whole time, while it lasted a month. “The whole thing is basically going to be orchestrated from the time all this garbage started coming out in the middle of last year,” Hayden said.

“You could see it was written on the wall. If I bet back so Justin Langer would retain his position at the end of his contract, I wouldn’t have put my entire life’s savings on him.”
