Member of Parliament from Thiruvananthapuram said “South Indians” would be grateful if “Hindi nationalists” running the platform could take the trouble to know the names of our states

Congress MP Shashi Tharoor pointed out an error in the names of Kerala and Tamil Nadu while sharing a picture of a poll run by a government website (mygov.in). The Member of Parliament from Thiruvananthapuram said that “South Indians” would be grateful if the “Hindi nationalists” running the platform could take the trouble to know the names of our states.

In the poll, people were asked to vote for their favorite tableau in this year’s Republic Day parade.

“All of us South Indians would be grateful if the Hindi nationalists running http://MyGov.in would kindly take the trouble to learn the names of our states. Please!? (sic)” Tharoor tweeted while sharing the picture in which Kerala was written as “Kerela” while Tamil Nadu was written as “Tamil Naidu”.

Later, MyGov, a citizen engagement platform of the Government of India, reported having duly rectified the “inadvertent” typing error. MyGov tweeted, “This inadvertent typographical error has been corrected yesterday, thanks.”

Colorful tableaux from Assam, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gujarat, West Bengal and several other states and union territories descended on the reconstructed duty path during the Republic Day celebrations on January 26.

A total of 23 tableaux depicting India’s vibrant cultural heritage, economic and social progress – from 17 states and union territories, and six from different ministries and departments – were part of the ceremonial parade.

The Republic Day celebrations came to an end today with the Beating Retreat Ceremony.
