Thane: A history-sheeter involved in theft and selling of auto rickshaws in Mumbai metropolis has been arrested by the crime branch. The police gave this information on Sunday.
According to Senior Inspector Vikas Ghodke, Crime Branch Wagle Unit-5, they were informed about the accused, whose identity is as follows Shanu Khan aka Lal Badshah, trying to sell two new stolen autos on Saturday afternoon. The autos were apparently stolen from Thane and Mira-Bhayender And the accused was looking for the customers, when the police pounced on him.
“The accused is a history-sheeter against whom there are several cases of vehicle theft. We were alerted about the accused parking two autos near a residential complex in Hazuri area of Thane. We laid a trap and arrested him and also confiscated the vehicles,” Ghodke said through a press statement issued by Thane police.
A case has been registered at Wagle Estate Police Station which is now probing his involvement in previous cases.
