City Congress chief Vikrant Chavan also expressed similar views, with both agreeing that the police should register a case of culpable homicide not amounting to murder in the incident.
NS Thane Municipal CorporationThe building, in a release issued on Sunday evening, had said that the building was declared dangerous and dilapidated after an audit in 2013, but the occupants had refused to move despite several notices.
The civic release claimed that the local police, water supply department and power distribution firms were asked to shut off the supply from their respective ends, but nothing came of the move.
A police officer said a case of accidental death was registered and the chain of events that led to the collapse of the slab and the deaths as well as the documents of the structure were under investigation.
