Thalapathy Vijay’s Varisu is all set to release worldwide on the occasion of Sankranti 2023. The film is a bilingual action drama, which will be released as Vaarisu in Tamil and Varasudu in Telugu. Directed by Vamshi Paidipally, the film is produced by Dil Raju and Sirish under the banners of Sri Venkateswara Creations and PVP Cinemas. It has recently done excellent pre-release business in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
Varasudu reportedly earned around Rs 6 crore in Telangana, Rs 2 crore in Rayalaseema and Rs 8 crore from rest of Andhra Pradesh, taking the total business to Rs 16 crore. The pre-release ticket sales of the film currently stand at Rs 72 crore in Tamil Nadu and Rs 7.5 crore in Karnataka. It has also done total ticket sales of Rs 6.5 crore in Kerala. Overall, Warisu’s pre-release business in India 106 crores has already crossed Rs.
Theatrical rights of Warisu were sold for Rs 142 crore in Tamil and Rs 18 crore in Telugu. The producers revealed on Twitter on December 4, 2022, that the film had sold 12,500 tickets in the United Kingdom. Varisu has already crossed Rs 300 crore mark in its total pre-release business.
The trailer of the film has crossed 36 million views on YouTube. Now, it is all set to hit the theaters on January 12, and film watchers have high expectations from Vijay, as his previous film Beast failed to impress. Apart from Thalapathy Vijay, Warisu also stars Rashmika Mandanna, Prabhu, R Sarathkumar, Prakash Raj, Sangeetha and Jayasudha in key roles. The film’s music is composed by S Thaman and its cinematography is helmed by Karthik Palani.
