Tamil superstar Vijay’s much-awaited film ‘Beast’, which released worldwide on April 23, suffered a major setback as it got banned in Kuwait. According to the report of trade analyst Ramesh Bala, the Ministry of Information in Kuwait has banned the film. Although the reasons are still unclear, it is speculated that the judgment comes from the depiction of Muslims in the film.
The film reportedly depicts Muslim characters as terrorists, which has been opposed by the Kuwait government. In a parallel narrative, it is also believed that the reason for this may be the anti-Pakistan sentiments of the film. ‘Beast’ is a hostage drama in which Vijay is playing the lead role.
However, this is not the first time that an Indian film has been banned in Kuwait. For similar reasons before, Dulquer Salmaan‘Kurup’ and Vishnu Vishal’s ‘FIR’ were also banned.
Interestingly, the film has been banned in Kuwait, but has been approved in the United Arab Emirates and other Arab countries. Tamil superstar Vijay has a huge fan following in the Middle-East, and the latest ban in Kuwait may somehow affect its worldwide box office collections.
‘Beast’ is an action-thriller, directed by Nelson Dilapkumar and directed by Sun Pictures. As for the unversed, the film is set to release on April 13 and will have a dramatic clash with South actor Yash’s ‘KGF Chapter 2’, which will come out the very next day.
