Texas A&M beat Butler 57-50 at the Maui Invitational

Las Vegas: Kwenton Jackson had 15 points and five stalls to give Texas A&M a 57-50 win over Butler at the Maui Invitational on Tuesday.

The Aggies led 12 at halftime and kept it close to double digits in the second half before Butler dropped it to 52-48 with just over a minute to spare.

Butler’s Chuck Harris scored on a lay-up with 27 seconds to make 53-50, but Marcus Williams hit two free throws to send off Aggies (5-1) in Wednesday’s fifth-place game.

Jair Bolden had 10 points to lead Butler (3-3), with 19 turnovers to get 21 Texas A&M points. The Bulldogs scored 36% and scored 5 for 20 from a 3-point arc.

The Aggies fell in a big opening hole in their Maui opener against Wisconsin and saw their late comeback effort run out of steam in a 69–58 loss.

Butler made a brutal start in his Maui opener against No. 12 Houston, allowing the Cougars to score the first 17 points of the game on their way to a 70–52 victory.

The Bulldogs got off to a better start against Texas A&M, but the Aggies finished 15-4 at halftime for a 33-21 lead. Jackson had eight points during the race, including a 3-pointer par.
