Vadodara: Despite less testing of samples in Vadodara city and district, the cases of Kovid-19 continued to increase even on Monday.
For the last three days, the number of fresh Covid-19 cases in Vadodara city and district ranged from 1,211 to 1,274. It was believed that fresh Covid-19 cases were stalled due to less testing of samples.
On Monday, however, fresh Covid-19 cases crossed the 1,300-mark even as the samples tested till Monday evening were far less than the previous two days.
The 9,613 tests conducted on Saturday detected 1,211 cases. A day later, out of 9,875 samples tested, 1,242 persons tested positive. However, till Monday evening, Vadodara recorded 1,313 new Covid-19 cases while the number of samples tested stood at 8,967. In fact, the samples tested in the 24 hours ending Monday evening were similar to the samples tested a week ago, but the positivity rate has increased three times.
With the fresh cases, the total number of cases since the start of the pandemic has gone up to 82,424. Fresh cases have been reported from Jetalpur, Bajwa, Warasiya, Diwalipura, Swad, Gotri, Chhani, Yamuna Mill, Tandlaja, Sama, Akota, Harni, Sudamapuri, Fatehpura, Ramdevnagar, Manjalpur, Bapod and Waghodia areas.
While the official death toll stands at 624, the number of patients declared discharged was 530, taking the total number of discharges to 74,615.
At present, Vadodara has 7,185 active cases, out of which 6,964 are in home isolation while 221 patients are hospitalised. Out of them, nine patients are being treated with ventilator/BI-PAP support, 74 patients need oxygen support, while 44 patients are in ICU but not on ventilator. There are 94 mild cases that do not require oxygen support. A total of 5,222 persons are in home quarantine.
After a long gap, there was a slight decrease in the fresh Covid-19 cases in the western zone of VMC. In the northern zone of VMC, 338 cases were added taking the total number of cases in the region to 14,160. 336 fresh cases were reported in the West Zone, after which its total cases reached 14,733.
Its tally reached 14,050 with 307 cases in the South Zone, while the total number of cases in the Eastern Zone reached 11,732 with 226 new cases.
The total number of Covid-19 positive cases in Vadodara Rural has reached 27,713 with 106 fresh Covid-19 cases on Monday.
