Tesla’s wireless charging unit delivers 15W speeds so you can charge anywhere on the pad’s surface.

Remember Apple’s AirPower wireless charging pad, the device that never made it to market? Now it seems Tesla has done what Apple couldn’t with the Tesla Wireless Charger for Multiple Devices. Tesla is a name you might associate with electric vehicles, solar panels and its fast chargers.

So it looks like the company has taken its existing technology and envisioned a charging product for portable devices like our smartphones.

The look of the Tesla wireless charger is inspired by the Tesla Cybertruck and uses aluminum-like materials with an Alcantara surface. The charging mat allows you to wirelessly charge multiple devices, something Apple showed us was possible with AirPower.

Tesla certainly took cues from that device, but thanks to FreePower technology, which allows you to use the entire surface of the charging pad to charge the device. This means that the charging coil extends over the surface, ensuring that you are not limited to using a specific part of the pad to charge the device.

Tesla’s wireless charging pad lets you charge three devices simultaneously as long as they support Qi wireless charging standards. So, you can only charge devices that support Qi wireless charging technology. This charger supports 15W wireless charging speed which is better than what is currently being offered in the market.

So, how much does this gadget cost? Tesla has priced its wireless charger at $300 (roughly Rs. 24,000), which most people would find expensive for a gadget like this that only charges at a fixed speed.

does this mean the launch of this gadget Elon Musk & Co. will have a smartphone in the market? We can’t say for sure, but given market trends it would hardly be surprising to see a Tesla smartphone hit the market in the near future. Either way, it looks like Apple has missed the bus with AirPower now that other brands have offered a similar product for customers.
