People in Kashmir are now returning to the mainstream. Five years ago, the Burhan Wani who was killed in an encounter with the security forces. On August 15, his father hoisted the tricolor and saluted the flag at a government school in Tral, Kashmir. Burhan’s father is the principal of a school in Tral. Burhan was killed in an encounter with the security forces on 8 July 2016. He was the poster boy and commander of Hizbul.
Who was Burhan?
- 22-year-old Burhan Wani became a terrorist at the age of 15. Burhan was very active in South Kashmir for the last few months. He had made terrorists by tricking many educated youths here.
- To recruit Kashmiri youth, he used to post videos and photos on Facebook-WhatsApp. In this, he was seen making fun of the security forces with weapons.
- Wani was considered an expert in giving provocative speeches and using social media. It was killed by the security forces in an encounter on July 8, 2016, last year. After Wani’s death, there were protests in Kashmir for about 90 days.
