Srinagar: A terrorist was killed while a policeman was injured in an encounter on Monday in Khagund Verinag area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
A top police officer said that on a specific tip, the police had gone to pick up an OGW. As the police team reached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militant opened fire on the police party, triggering an encounter.
The police officer further said that during the firing, an unidentified terrorist was killed, while a constable was also shot. He was taken to the nearest hospital for treatment.
Meanwhile, a pistol and a hand grenade were recovered from the possession of the slain terrorist. (GNS)
